The Opportunity
HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for a fast-growing financial services logistics startup seeking a Business Operations Associate/Manager to join its lean Business Operations team, reporting directly to the Head of BizOps.
This is not a narrow function role. BizOps is where the company's highest-priority problems go when there isn't clear ownership elsewhere. The team runs lean, priorities shift quickly, and the bar for autonomy is extremely high.
This role is designed for someone who wants true ownership early in their career—someone who thrives without micromanagement, enjoys operating across strategy and execution, and can independently drive outcomes across the organization.
What You'll Own
BizOps work spans three interconnected buckets. Most projects touch all three:
1. General Operations (Keep the Wheels Moving)
-
Step into gaps across teams and unblock execution when ownership is unclear
-
Support new initiatives as they spin up, ensuring momentum and follow-through
-
Drive operational clarity in a company that runs lean by design
2. Company-Wide Analytics
-
Own KPI tracking, dashboards, and leadership-facing metrics
-
Build analytical infrastructure in an environment without a centralized data team
-
Deliver ad hoc analysis that informs cross-functional decision-making
3. Strategic & Finance-Like Projects
-
Support pricing decisions, partnership economics, and revenue share modeling
-
Contribute to forecasting, annual operating plans (AOP), and strategic planning
-
Build investor-facing materials, town hall decks, and executive narratives
-
Take ownership of work currently held directly by the Head of BizOps
Example of the Work
A recent partner launch required BizOps to:
-
Serve as the front line for partner requests
-
Coordinate internal execution across teams
-
Build a custom dashboard from scratch
-
Participate in partner-facing calls alongside senior leadership
That single project blended operations, analytics, and strategy—typical of this role.
Day-to-Day Operating Style
This is an intentionally self-directed position.
After ~6 months, the expectation is that you operate largely autonomously. The Head of BizOps will not assign daily tasks or micromanage execution. Instead, you will be given broad problem areas and expected to define solutions, drive projects forward, and partner cross-functionally.
This role is best suited for candidates who want ownership, not structure.
Key Responsibilities
Candidates will be considered for interview based on demonstrated ability to:
-
Define and track vertical-specific KPIs tied to business performance
-
Optimize the growth funnel across pre-sale and post-sale workflows
-
Build scalable process playbooks for Sales, Underwriting, or Support teams
-
Design and run experiments to improve growth, revenue, and efficiency
-
Analyze purchasing, transaction, and payment data to guide business decisions
-
Conduct customer interviews and translate insights into product and workflow improvements
-
Partner closely with Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success to execute cross-functional initiatives
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
These qualifications are mandatory. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered.
-
3–7 years of experience in highly analytical environments such as:
-
Investment Banking (1–3 years)
-
Strategy consulting (non-implementation focused)
-
Corporate strategy or strategic finance at strong scale-ups or top tech firms
-
-
Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (no training-from-scratch)
-
Strong ability to build decks, communicate clearly, and present structured thinking
-
Proven project ownership with minimal oversight
-
Comfort operating independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
-
Stable resume with clear progression and measurable impact
Preferred Qualifications (Strong Differentiators)
Candidates with the following background will be viewed as standout applicants:
-
Strategy consulting experience at a top-tier firm (MBB or equivalent)
-
Startup exposure following banking or consulting
-
SQL or advanced analytical experience
-
Prior experience influencing stakeholders without formal authority
-
Degree from a top university (especially helpful if prior companies are less well-known)
Compensation Overview
-
Analyst: ~$120K–$130K all-in
-
Associate: ~$130K–$150K (up to ~$160K for strong candidates)
-
Manager: ~$160K–$180K+ (typically 3–4+ years strong experience + startup exposure)
Level will be calibrated based on experience and demonstrated ownership ability.
