Location: Remote – California (Candidates must be local and CA-based)
Compensation: $130,000 – $200,000 base salary
Bonus: Performance-based bonus tied to billable hours

HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for an established civil litigation defense firm with offices in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Nevada. The firm is seeking a Civil Litigation Defense Associate to join its growing practice.
This role is ideal for a California-licensed associate who wants meaningful litigation responsibility, strong mentorship, and the ability to grow within a collaborative and stable team environment. Key Responsibilities
Candidates will be considered for interview based on demonstrated ability to contribute across all phases of civil defense litigation, including:

Managing litigation matters from inception through resolution, with increasing ownership over time

Handling court appearances, hearings, and procedural filings

Drafting pleadings, motions, and written discovery

Taking and defending depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts

Participating in mediations, settlement negotiations, and dispute strategy
-
Communicating directly with clients and providing consistent case updates
-
Supporting trial preparation and working closely with partners on litigation strategy
This role offers hands-on litigation exposure with strong guidance and room to grow.
Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
These qualifications are mandatory. Candidates who do not meet all requirements will not be considered.

Active membership in the California State Bar, in good standing

1–6 years of civil litigation experience (associate-level only)

Experience or exposure to civil litigation defense in a law firm setting

Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills

Excellent communication and professionalism with clients and colleagues

Must be based in California and able to work remotely within the state

Stable resume with consistent tenure (no jumpy, short-term, or freelance-heavy backgrounds)
